Chisi Mbewe credits CAF Confederation Cup qualification to divine intervention and players hard work

Having played in the CAF Confederations cup in 2005 and 2009 Red Arrows will make a return to the second most prestigious club competition on the continent.
The Airmen qualified for the Competition after they finished third on the MTN/FAZ Super League log table with 51 points thanks to a final day goalless draw against away at Sunset Stadium against Zanaco.
Arrows head coach, Chisi Mbewe was quick to heap praise on his players for their second-round performance having begun the season on a bad note.
“First of all I just want to return the Glory and honor to God, we started this season with God and we have seen his hand upon the team,” he said.
“We started on a bad note because of the rainy season, the boys couldn’t play their actual game because of that, we thank God we played the second round in cold season, which allowed us to get back to our usual football, and that’s how we managed to finish in top 4.”
“I also want to thank the boys for the performance this season because no one believed we could make it this far,” he continued.
Mbewe who also doubles up as Zambia U-15 national team head coach is aware of how competitive continental football hence he wants to reinforce his squad.
“We have moved to another level, and what we have to do now is sit and plan for continental and see where we can beef up,” he said.
NAPSA Stars started the season as one of the country’s Continental representatives but ended up being relegated, something Chisi Mbewe believes is a big lesson for all the teams that have qualified.
“It very unfortunate for the teams that have been relegated, and what every team that has qualified needs to do now, is to prepare adequately for both continental football and local league and be able to manage both.”
Arrows recorded 14 wins, 9 draws, and 11 losses to finish third with the Magnificent people’s team Kabwe Warriors closing the top four bracket.
ZESCO United and Zanaco finished first and second respectively to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
