CHINESE GOVT APPRECIATES ZAMBIA’s SUPPORT ON COVID -19

By Joy SiatubiThe Chinese Government has appreciated Zambia’s support when China was first hit by the covid-19 pandemic late last year.Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie says the period leading to the end of 2019 was a very difficult time for his country, but the burden was lessened with support from countries like Zambia.Mr. Li says it is for this reason that China was among the first countries to respond to Zambia when the first covid-19 case was recorded in Lusaka, in March this year.The Chinese Ambassador said his government is further encouraging capacity building in terms of medical corporation to strengthen the capacity of medical staff in Zambia.Ambassador Li was speaking when he presented covid-19 supplies to the Zambian government, through the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust in Lusaka today.The medical supplies made possible through the First lady of China, Professor Peng Liyuan, include one million face masks and Infrared thermometers.And, First lady Esther Lungu said the gesture by the Chinese first lady is highly commendable.Mrs. Lungu said it is important for countries to stand together during difficult times like the covid-19 pandemic.
