Child loses sight due to herbs used to treat eye condition

The Zambia Flying Doctors Service – ZFDS says it is concerned with the increased cases of blindness in Kalumbila District which is caused by use of herbs in treating eye conditions.

The doctors have recorded a lot of cases of blindness during their outreach in the district.

And ZFDS Ophthalmologist JAPHET SIASULWE says he is concerned with the poor eye care services among members of the community in Kalumbila District of North Western Province.

Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. SIASULWE said there is need for the public to be sensitised on the need for seeking medical attention with relation to eye conditions.

He has also urged the community to stop using home remedies to treat medical conditions as it could lead to permanent damage to the eyes.
