CHIEF MUMENA HAPPY WITH EARLY FERTILISER SUPPLY

(NAIS) Chief MUMENA of the Kaonde people in Kalumbila District in North-western Province says early supply of farm inputs is critical in the transformation of Agriculture to make the sector the mainstay of the country’s economy.

AND Chief MUMENA has appealed to the government to ensure there is quality control of the seed that will be supplied for FISP this year as it is an integral input in ensuring increased crop production and productivity.

The traditional leader was speaking when Nyimba Investments Head of Sales and Marketing WILLINGS MULENDEMA paid a courtesy call on him at his Palace in Kalumbila.

He has praised government and the fertiliser supplier for the continued early supply of farm inputs under the Farmer Input Support Programme.

Chief MUMENA said the good partnership between government and input suppliers is working well and has changed the inputs supply system for the better.

The Chief has further appealed to seed suppliers to ensure they provide good quality seed to farmers.

He observes that some seed suppliers have a habit of supplying seed which does not perform to expectations of farmers.

MEANWHILE, Mr. MULENDEMA has commended Chief MUMENA and farmers in his area for the continued support, making it easy for the company to operate efficiently.

Mr. MULENDEMA told Chief MUMENA that the company has completed delivering fertiliser for the 2021-2022 farming season to North-western Province and that farmers should get ready for the distribution exercise.
