CHESS AIMS AT MORE GRAND MASTERS

The Chess Federation of Zambia-CFZ- says it targets to produce more grand masters through Partnerships with countries like Russia who have the top ranked players in the world.

CFZ- Vice President Lesli Chikuse says fostering strong ties with countries that have the best in the game will provide a platform for Zambian chess billiards to gain expertise and mint medals at the global stage.

Chikuse says local chess players have got potential to become Grandmasters which is the highest rank in the sport but need to learn from the best in the game.

He was speaking when the Federation signed a memorandum of Understanding – MOU- with the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Lusaka.

Chikuse said the coming of the MOU the country can be assured of having more Athletes rise through the ranks and become known globally.

And Russia Center for Science and Culture Director Aleksandr Anisimov said the center will provide a conducive environment to groom the Athletes and empower them in other education programs.
