CEEC to Disburse K390m in Loans to entrepreneurs

The Government through the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission -CEEC- plans to disburse loans to the tune of 390 million Kwacha to small and medium entrepreneurs.

The rolling out of loans throughout the country is aimed at encouraging the full participation of the informal sector in the economy.

Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises Permanent Secretary, SUBETA MUTELO says the government’s decision to increase funding to CEEC is aimed at empowering cooperatives and individuals who do not have enough capital to run their businesses.

Speaking in an interview with NAIS in Lusaka, Ms MUTELO explained that the gesture is a revolving fund which beneficiaries must pay back and extend to other entrepreneurs.

And, Umulyo Foods Chief Executive Officer, MAGRET LENGWE has appreciated the government for considering boosting businesses for small and medium entrepreneurs.
