CB MPS NOD LIVESTOCK EMPOWERMENT

By Machona Kasambala:

Members of Parliament for Kankoyo, Mufulira Central and Chimwemwe constituencies on the Copperbelt province have commended government for economically empowering their areas through the development of the livestock sector.

Kankoyo member of Parliament Brian Mushimba, Mufulira Central member of Parliament Evans Chibanda and Chimwemwe’s Mwila Mutale say livestock is becoming a sustainable source of income and livelihood for most people in the country.

The Members of Parliament said this in their respective constituencies when the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock handed over 500 chickens and 50 goats to each of the constituencies.

Dr Mushimba said the distribution of livestock in Kankoyo has enabled most of vulnerable communities build capacity to generate their own incomes and alleviate poverty.

And Mufulira Central constituency member of Parliament Evans Chibanda said government has fulfilled its commitment to take development to all parts of the country.

Meanwhile Mr. Mutale said the distribution of livestock to his area is a sign of bigger things to come.
