Catholic Church in EP ready to work with Govt

By Christopher Miti

The Catholic Church in Eastern Province says it is happy to partner with the government in enhancing the provision of quality education.

Chipata Diocese Bishop, GEORGE LUNGU says it is the desire of the church to see the education sector that is inclusive and accessible.

Bishop LUNGU said this in a speech read on his behalf by diocesan education secretary Father MARK MWANZA.

This was during the commissioning of a dormitory at St Monica’s Girls Secondary School that was built by the government at over 1.7 million Kwacha.

And Eastern Province Permanent Secretary PAUL THOLE said the government places great importance on the education of its citizens.

Mr THOLE said only education  can transform the status of any child.

Meanwhile, School Headteacher Sr. FAUSTINA HANZIBA said the growing number of girls seeking admission at the institution posed challenges to the existing infrastructure.
