BUS DRIVERS PROTEST OVER LEVIES BY CADRES

LUSAKA’s KULIMA Tower Bus Station Public Service Bus Drivers have cried foul alleging that some Patriotic Front-PF cadres masquerading as United Party for National Development-UPND members have invaded LUSAKA’s Bus Stations and are collecting bus levies.

One of the Bus Drivers GEORGE NKOTI has lamented that bus drivers are allegedly being harrassed by individuals masquerading as UPND members in various Bus Stations in the city by grabbing money from them after loading passengers.

Mr. NKOTI has called on President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA to intervene, saying the President has a zero tolerance to carderism.

And, another Bus Driver TIMOTHY KALALA said bus drivers must be allowed to operate without interference as they were allegedly subjected to mistreatment during the Patriotic Front-PF regime.

Mr. KALALA testified he himself had his leg allegedly broken by some PF cardres prior to the August 12, 2021 General Election in the process of demanding bus levies.

The two said this in a walk- in interview with ZNBC News in LUSAKA today.

Meanwhile, UPND LUSAKA Province Assistant Media Director, MOSES CHIINZA has assured bus drivers in LUSAKA that cadres regardless of political affiliations who might have invaded bus stations to collect levies shall be reported to Police immediately.

Mr.CHINZA said President HICHILEMA’s administration do NOT condone caderism in bus stations and markets.
