Bene Mukuni Ceremony to be held next month

Angela Limwanya-The Mukuni Royal Establishment has announced that this year’s Bene Mukuni Traditional Ceremony of the Leya people in Kazungula District of the Southern Province will be held on July 9 and 10.

Mukuni Chiefdom Prime Minister, STANLEY SIACHILUBI announced the dates in Livingstone last night during a fundraising dinner whose proceeds will go towards the hosting of the two-day traditional ceremony.

Mr. SIACHILUBI called on Zambians to pray for the MUKUNI Chiefdom to successfully host the traditional ceremony without any confusion.

He was represented at the fundraising event by the Mukuni Chiefdom Palace Courtier, BORNIFACE SIMASIKU.

At the same event Southern Province Minister, CORNELIUS MWEETWA said the government will continue supporting all traditional ceremonies in Zambia.

Mr. MWEETWA said the government attaches great importance to culture and traditional ceremonies in the country because they are identities of people.

The minister who was represented by Livingstone Mayor CONSTANCE MULEABAI said traditional ceremonies are a unifying factor in communities.

And, Chief CHIKANTA of the Tonga speaking people in Kalomo District who also attended the event encouraged Zambians to support the Bene Mukuni Traditional Ceremony.
