BATOKA-MAAMBA ROAD IN NEED OF REPAIR

(NAIS) Several truck drivers and motorists using the Batoka – Maamba road have called on government to urgently repair the road which has deteriorated.

They have told the National Agricultural Information Services that some parts of the road have become bad and needs urgent attention.

Their call comes in the wake of an incident on Monday where some truck drivers and other motorists were marooned at Mboole area after trucks carrying coal got stuck.

Patrick SIBANDA a truck driver who was caught in the traffic jam and spent a night at the spot described the Batoka – Maamba road as a death trap that requires urgent attention.

Meanwhile, other truck drivers and motorists appealed to authorities to work on the road as it is an economic road where they get coal from Sinazongwe district used in various industries and mines.

Meanwhile, the Road Development Agency -RDA- Southern Region Technician THOMAS LUBINDA said the Agency was making frantic efforts to have the bad spot repaired immediately.

Mr. LUBINDA said the Road Development Agency was already working on the Batoka – Maamba road at an area known as Bbampu that is in a bad state as compared to Mboole area.
