Copper Queens Captain and Forward BARBRA BANDA says her lucrative deal move to the U.S will not only put Zambia on the world map but Africa as well.

In an exclusive interview with The Athletic, BANDA said hard work, determination and putting God first are among the motivating factors for her move.

BANDA has officially been signed as Orlando Pride player in the second-most expensive women’s transfer in history.

The 23-year-old joins the National Women’s Soccer League club for $740,000 from Chinese club Shanghai Shengli.

Bay FC paid a world-record $860,000 for Zambia team-mate RACHEAL KUNDANANJI last month.

BANDA joins Pride on a four-year deal and will become one of the highest-paid players in the United States’ National Women’s Soccer League.

Pride also negotiated a sell-on clause for any future transfer of BANDA, who scored 41 goals in 52 appearances for Shanghai Shengli.

The forward became the first female player to score successive hat-tricks at the Olympic Games against the Netherlands and China in 2021.
