“Banking Must Be Accessible for All”

By Ruth Chayinda: Bank of Zambia Governor Denny Kalyalya  says it is imperative that every segment of the Zambian society has access to basic financial services.Dr Kalyalya was speaking in a speech read  for him by Bank Of Zambia Director of Non-bank financial Institutions Freda Tamba during  a media launch of the first ever digital bank in Zambia at ZNBC studios today in Lusaka.Dr. Kalyalya says  the launch of the Standard chartered digital banking application will enable more Zambians  access financial services and also open an account via mobile phone.Dr. Kalyalya  has also urged banking institute to ensure that the put up measures that will protect accounts from cyber crime which has affected not only Zambia but also the globe.And Standrad Chartered Bank Zambia Chief Executive Officer Herman Kasekende said the digital journey is milestone that underlines the banks commitment to invest and grow its market in Zambia .Mr Kasekendeexplained that through the innovative technology, clients will be able to execute all banking activities from their mobile phone via the standard chartered application .And ZNBC Director Marketing Evans Muhanga  said ZNBC is happy to showcase and collaborate with standard chartered in there launch of the  mobile app.Mr. Muhanga  said this clearly shows that ZNBC has the capacity to execute digital broadcasting and has since urged other companies to take advantage of the facilities that the national broadcaster has to offer .
