By Ruth Chayinda

Zambia’s Ambassador to Korea ANDREW BANDA has encouraged Korea Tourism Organisation to partner with the Zambia Tourism Agency.

Mr. BANDA says through the partnership, Zambia’s Tourism sector will be able to generate numerous employment opportunities and contribute to the country’s economy.

He says Zambia has a number of beautiful tourism sites and is one of the most peaceful countries in Africa ranking number six on the 2024 Global Peace Index.

Mr. BANDA said in 2023, the country received about 1.4 million tourists and has set a target to reach TWO million in 2024.

He said among the measures that the government has put in place is waiving visa fees for countries in the EU, USA, Gulf region and Korea.

Mr. BANDA said this when he called on the Executive Vice President -International Tourism of the Korea Tourism Organisation LEE HAK-JO.

And Mr HAK-JO said the Korean Government regards Zambia as an important country and plans to establish an embassy in 2024.

He said that the Government of the Republic of Korea will in June this year host Korea-Africa Summit and looks forward to Zambia’s participation at the highest level.

Mr. HAK-JO said the Summit will provide an opportunity for expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries, in tourism and other sectors.

This is contained in statement released to ZNBC News by Zambia’s first secretary for Tourism to Korea ZONDI CHILEMBO.
