BACK-TO-SCHOOL FREE GCE PROG. GOING WELL

By Lucky Phiri

Beneficiaries of the Back-to-School free GCE education programme, under the Presidential Education Initiative, have been urged to utilise the opportunity to improve their Grade 12 results.

General Education Permanent Secretary, JOBBICKS KALUMBA has given the challenge, saying his Ministry is in full support of the programme, and teachers are willing to offer a service to the nation.

Dr KALUMBA says the programme should NOT be politicised, as it is purely meant to help Zambians, who cannot afford to pay for tuitions.

The Permanent Secretary said this when he addressed over 2-hundred students, under the programme at Kabanana Secondary School in Lusaka.

And Presidential Education Initiative National Coordinator, PATRICK SAMWIMBILA said the initiative has received overwhelming response countrywide.

Mr. SAMWIMBILA said people are registering on a daily basis to be part of the Back-to-School free GCE Education programme.
