ATI Bill To Be Taken Countrywide

Mark Ziligone-Government says it will take the Access To Information-ATI- Bill to all the ten provinces in order to widen stakeholder consultation on the Bill.

Information and Media Permanent Secretary KENNEDY KALUNGA says this follows the proposal by some stakeholders for Zambians to be consulted over the Bill.

Mr. KALUNGA says taking the Bill to the ten provinces will enable concerned citizens to participate and address the perception that it is meant for the media only.

He says the Access to Information Bill is NOT for the media only, hence the need for various stakeholder consultations.

Mr. KALUNGA has further disclosed that technocrats at the Ministry have already started preparations for the provincial meetings.

The Information and Media permanent secretary was speaking when officials from PANOS and Internews network Zambia called on him at his office in Lusaka.

And the delegation thanked Government for the open door policy and inclusive manner it is handling the Access to Information Bill.
