Angry Zanaco fans call for the dismissal of Mr Takatiko

Zanaco fans staged a protest on Saturday at Sunset Stadium following their team’s shock 2-1 defeat to relagated Kitwe.

The fans were infuriated with the substitution of Congolese midfielder Lasa Kiala and African Cup of Nations winner Chisamba Lungu in the second half.

With the the bankers’ unbeaten home run in danger, Zanaco coach Chris ‘Mr Takatiko’ Kaunda replaced the influential duo Kiala and Chisamba with Albert Kangwanda and Abraham Siakombo.

But the changes didn’t have any positive effect as the bankers became disjointed to the dismay of demanding home fans.

The fans started expressing their disapproval of the Kaunda led bench which also includes Henry Banda.

After the game, the fans followed the team to the dressing room before they directed their energy to Zanaco CEO Marlon Kanada.

“If they won’t fire him, then they should all (including management) be fired,” said infuriated fans after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to relagated Kitwe United.

Moses Phiri put the Bankers in the lead in the 29th minute with his 16th goal of the season and Chris Kaunda’s side looked like they were heading for victory.

Chingalika however came from the break like a house on fire leveling matters just four minutes into the second stanza thanks to a Rupert Musonda goal before winger Edward Lungu scored a beauty to put the Kitwe based outfit in the lead and seal a hard fought 2-1 win.

The bankers are second on the log and had they won, they could have been two points behind leaders Zesco United.
