All Kitwe schools have opened-DEBS

Kitwe District Education Board Secretary CHRISTOPHER NYUNGILA has dispelled rumours that schools in Kitwe have not opened due to the COVID -19 situation .

Speaking during a media stakeholders’ meeting in Kitwe today, Mr. NYUNGILA said schools opened yesterday, with high numbers of learners recorded.

He has assured parents not to panic as pupils are safe in all schools.

And Kitwe District Health Director GEORGE MUKUPA says the district has not recorded any deaths arising from COVID-19.

Dr. MUKUPA adds that no one has been admitted to the COVID -19 isolation ward at Kitwe Teaching Hospital as the situation is under control.

He says testing and vaccination has continued and has urged members of the public to continue adhering to the five Golden rules.

Meanwhile, Kitwe District Commissioner LAWRENCE MWANZA said there is need for the media to take a leading role in sensitizing the public on the pandemic.
