ACC launches no BRIBES but FINES campaign

By Mary Kachepa

Acting Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA has directed the Zambia Police Service to come up with simplified electronic platforms that will be convenient for road users to pay fines.

Mr. LUFUMA says the Police Service should work with Smart Zambia and other service providers to come up with electronic payment platforms.

He was speaking during the launch of the no BRIBES but FINES campaign by the Anti Corruption Commission -ACC- in Lusaka today.

Meanwhile ACC Director General GILBERT PHIRI said the campaign is aimed at raising awareness on the dangers of traffic corruption.

Speaking at the same event, Transparency International Zambia -TIZ- Executive Director MAURICE NYAMBE said there is need for concerted efforts in addressing corruption.

And in a speech read on his behalf by Lusaka Province Police Commissioner CRETO KAANZA, Inspector General of Police LEMMY KAJOBA said effective road safety management and enforcement can only be attained if there is no corruption.
