ACC HANDS OVER SEIZED KAPOPO PROPERTY

The Anti-Corruption Commission -ACC has handed over properties forfeited to the State to the Hostels Board of Management to support its role of providing descent accommodation in the hospitality industry.

The properties fortified in the Henry Kapoko case are both movable and immovable and they are worth 2.2 million Kwacha.

They include an incomplete lodge comprising six structures and assorted furniture namely; 33 beds, 23 mattresses, 33 chairs, 10 headboards and six chests of drawers.

Speaking when he received the items in Lusaka, Tourism Permanent Secretary EVANS MUHANGA said his Ministry values the gesture by the ACC considering that Government wants to make the Hostels Board a viable business which can contribute to the national treasary.

And ACC Acting Secretary to the Commission JOSPHAT MAIBA said the handover of the items is proof that whatever is done by ACC is for the benefit of the general masses.

Mr. MAIBA disclosed that that ACC has handed over forfeited houses located in Lusaka’s Olympia Park and on Manda Hill to the Lands Tribunal under Ministry of Lands while a lodge comprising 15 self-contained guest rooms in Roma has been given to the Office
of the Public Prosecutor .
