Former Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Administration KAKULUBELWA MULALELO has been arrested by the Anti Corruption Commission -ACC- for corrupt practices.

Ms. MULALELO 47, of Meanwood Ibex Hill in Lusaka, has been arrested for willful failure to comply with applicable law and procedure.

ACC Public Relations Manager, TIMOTHY MOONO has confirmed in a statement to ZNBC News today.

Mr. MOONO said Ms MULALELO jointly and whilst acting together with other persons allegedly did willfully fail to comply with the law relating to procurement in awarding a contract to IVECO South Africa Limited for the supply of 50 Ambulances to the Ministry of Health.

This was between January 1st, and December 31st, 2017.

Mr. MOONO said investigations have revealed that the Ministry of Health procured 50 Ambulances from IVECO South Africa Limited at an inflated cost of 13.5 million United States Dollars without following duly laid down procurement procedures.

He says Ms. MULALELO as Chief Planner- Infrastructure, at the Ministry of Health, was part of the Ministerial Tender Committee that approved the procurement of the ambulances.

Ms. MULALELO has been released on Bond and will appear in court soon.
