By Wilson Mulinda

The National Pension Scheme Authority -NAPSA- has signed Memoranda of Understanding with ABSA bank and ZANACO for the two banks to offer processing services to pre-retirement beneficiaries.

NAPSA Director General MUYANGWA MUYANGWA says that the partnership will lessen the queues at NAPSA offices, while indirectly creating Public private partnerships.

Speaking during the signing ceremony with the two banks, Mr. MUYANGWA also called on other banks to emulate the initiative and extend their services.

He added that the authority has so far paid out 1.7 billion Kwacha to over 51,000 beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, ABSA Bank Managing Director, MIZINGA MELU said the bank is opening 21 centres for beneficiaries to access their funds countrywide.

In a speech read on her behalf by Director Retail HARTON MALIKI, Mrs. MELU said one hundred staff have been trained to provide the service at no cost to NAPSA.

And, ZANACO Managing Director, MUKWANDI CHIBESAKUNDA said the bank wants beneficiaries to access funds quickly.

Mrs. CHIBESAKUNDA said the partnership will see branch staff give support to NAPSA and customers by providing quick and reliable services.
