A local coach should also be offered $25,000, says Sports Minister

Minister of Sports Elvis Nkandu has said if FAZ settles for a local coach, he should be offered the same salary that was given to Aljosa Asanovic.

The Croatian was getting $25,000 monthly.

“We won’t stop supporting the coach if it’s a local coach. The same support we give to foreign coaches is the same support we will give to a local coach,” Nkandu was quoted by the Times of Zambia.

“Coaches need to be motivated because sport to us is not mere entertainment but a source of employment,” he added.

While the country is engulfed in who takes over from Asanovic, the minister had this to say.

“It doesn’t matter whether the coach is an expatriate or local. That debate should come to an end. We need a coach that can deliver. Give us the results that we will desire as a nation.

“The coach should have quality and experience.
