8 DIE, 9 OTHERS IN HOSPITAL AFTER ACCIDENT

Eight people have died while nine others are unconscious in the Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital after two trucks collided at Green Leaf on the Great North Road in Kapiri Mposhi.

Of those who have died, two are juveniles while the rest are adults.

Zambia Police Spokesperson RAE HAMOONGA says the accident happened when the driver of a Hino truck carrying 12 passengers was overtaking improperly and hit into another truck, a freightliner which was carrying two passengers.

Mr. HAMOONGA has told ZNBC News in Lusaka that six people died on the spot while two later died at the hospital.

He said as result of the accident, both vehicles are extensively damaged.
