6 OF 15 SWIMMING CLUBS READY FOR SEASON

By Chansa Kunda-The Zambia Swimming Union -ZASU- says only six clubs out of 15 have returned to action after being certified by the Ministry of Health.

ZASU Vice President ADEWALE GRILLO says the 2020 swimming season started this month but that only a few clubs are training under the new normal.

GRILLO says the outbreak of the COVID-19 has distorted the Association’s calendar, leading to the postponement of the first swimming competition for all clubs.

He has however told ZNBC Sports News that ZASU is likely to hold its first league gala in October this year.

GRILLO also says clubs that are open for training have been given a set of rules by the Ministry of Health which they will follow for the rest of the season.

He further says some of the swimmers are grappling with fitness challenges because of lack of training during the lockdown phase.
