500 People Imprisoned in 30 days

Over 500 people have been imprisoned since the pardoning of over 2,000 inmates by President Edgar Lungu, in the advent of the Africa Freedom Day last month.And Zambia Correctional Services Commissioner-General, Chisela Chileshe says this high number of imprisonments is causing congestion in the incarceration facilities.Dr Chileshe was speaking today in Kabwe, during the Zambia Correctional Services mid-year review meeting.Meanwhile, Dr Chileshe has cautioned officers not to fail in their duties, amid government’s austerity measures.He said the officers should focus on how to improve performance as a service in the agricultural and industrial sectors.
