5 000 MOPANI WORKERS IN CASH BONANZA

Over five thousand workers at Mopani Copper Mine have received their final terminal benefits.

Mopani Copper Mines Chief Executive Officer, Charles Sakanya says the mining giant has paid all its workers and fulfilled its obligation as promised.

Mr. Sakanya has further revealed that none of the workers has lost their jobs after receiving their terminal benefits.

The Mopani Chief Executive Officer has also disclosed that his firm has granted a 10 percent salary increment to all its unionised staff.

Mr Sakanya says the negotiations with the mine unions were recently concluded in a cordial environment.

And Spokesperson and Director for the Ministry of Information and Media Thabo Kawana says the decision by Mopani Copper Mines to pay all terminal benefits has excited government.

Mr Kawana says since the mining firm was acquired by government, it has performed exceptionally well.

He says there is industrial harmony at Mopani Copper Mines because management is running the firm well under the Industrial Development Corporation -IDC.

Mr Kawana has advised all the workers who have received their terminal benefits to invest wisely so that they can secure their future.
