343 NKRUMAH STUDENTS GET SCHOLARSHIPS

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board has awarded student loans to 343 eligible first year students at Kwame Nkrumah University for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Board Senior Corporate Communications Officer CHISELWA KAWANDA says 181 students of the awarded are male while 162 are female.

She says of the 343 applicants, 215 are from rural areas and 128 are from urban areas representing 63 percent and 37 percent respectively.

Ms. KAWANDA adds that the Scholarships Board received 595 applications for sponsorship at Kwame Nkrumah University, out of which 512 applicants were eligible and 83 were ineligible for sponsorship.

She states that the ineligible applications are as a result of having completed Grade 12 before 2017, applicants being older than 24 years, and non-attachment of required documents.

Ms. KAWANDA says four students living with disabilities had also applied and were all awarded scholarships.

This is contained in a statement availed to ZNBC News in Lusaka.
