34,000 Children Due to Get Polio Vaccinations

Over 34,000 children under the age of eight are being targeted in the type two round two Novel Oral Polio Vaccination campaign.

Livingstone District Health Director MALUNGWE KALALUKA says the target is based on the achievement of the last campaign which reached hundred percent of the targeted population.

She says vaccinations will be done through door to door visitations, at facilities and outreach congregate settings.

Dr. KALALUKA was speaking in Livingstone during the launch of type two round two Novel Oral Polio Vaccination campaign.

And Chief Mukuni’s wife, VERONICA MUKUNI who officiated at the launch of the campaign said Livingstone being a tourist capital has a high risk of contracting communicable diseases such as polio, thus the need to encourage vaccinations.

She has praised the Livingstone District Health team for reaching over 36,000 children during the last Novel Oral Polio Vaccination campaign.
