25 Anthrax Cases in Mongu

Twenty five human cases of Anthrax have been recorded in four districts in the Western Province.

The cases are from SIOMA, SESHEKE, NALOLO and MONGU Districts of the Province.

Ministry of Health Provincial Disease Surveillance Officer GOLDEN APULENI has confirmed this to ZNBC news in Mongu, stating that 11 out of the 25 are undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, five animals have died of Anthrax of the 44 animal Anthrax cases recorded in the Province.

Western Province Veterinary Officer STEPHEN TEMBO has disclosed that all the five animals are from Sesheke District.

And in Lusaka About 500 Kilogrammes of meat has been seized by the Lusaka City Council, after being found to be contaminated with Anthrax .

This follows inspections by the local authority in various outlets, in view of the Anthrax outbreak.

Member of the Lusaka City Council Public Health Committee, Mainda Simaata has disclosed this to ZNBC News in an interview.
