2021 Barbra Banda Foundation and BUSA Annual Challenge Cup off to a great start

The 2021 Barbara Banda Foundation and BUSA Women’s Challenge Cup got off to an excellent start yesterday in Bauleni recording 6 goals across all three matches with Nkwazi making the headlines after a comfortable 3-1 win over Pataaki while the hosts BUSA Queens and Luyando Foundation Girls FC suffered 1-nil defeats at the hands of Lusaka Dynamos Ladies FC and All-Stars respectively.

Group A log leaders Nkwazi Queens came up against stubborn Pataaki Girls in an opening match played at Crested Cranes Academy Grounds, and the Police sponsored outfit did not disappoint as they comfortably edged Pataaki 3-1, thanks to Dorothy Ngoma who scored a brace and a goal from Sombo Kakoma while Pataaki had a consolation through Pauline Zulu, Who scored the goal of the tournament so far, a venomous strike from outside the area.

The second Group A match saw the People’s favorite team, Luyando Foundation shockingly losing 1-nil to All-Stars in a match that was played at New Bauleni Community Stadium.

All-Stars scored the only goal of the match through Ruth Daka in the first half and that was the only difference between these two sides as the game ended 1-0 in favor of All-Stars.

Meanwhile, another early Kick-Off saw the hosts BUSA Queens losing 1-nil to Lusaka Dynamos Ladies FC in an entertaining encounter that could have gone either way as both sides tested each other throughout the game with end-to-end action, however, Elizabeth Mupeso’s goal from the penalty spot proved to be enough as that was the only goal in this match as The Elite Ladies came out tops against BUSA Queens who will be looking to pick up maximum points in their next encounter.

The Challenge Cup enters day 2 this afternoon with yet another three mouthwatering encounters, Bauleni Community Stadium will host YASA Queens who will be locking horns with Lusaka Dynamos Ladies FC in what promises to be a cracker and a game to watch in Group B at 13:00hrs.

Group A action continues when log leaders Nkwazi Queens take on Luyando Foundation in the first of the doubleheader at Crested Cranes Academy Grounds with Kick-Off slated for 13:00hrs and later this game will be followed by All-Stars against Pataaki in a youthful affair at 15:00hrs.
