20 SOUTH FARMERS GET $40m

More than 20 farmer cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises in Southern Province have received a 40-million dollar funding by government through the Zambia Agro Business and Trade Project -ZAPT-.

ZAPT Procurement Specialist KELVIN CHANDA says some of the funded projects include dairy cooperatives, goat cooperatives and other SMEs.

Mr. CHANDA said this after sensitizing 15 farmer cooperatives in Monze district on availability of grants and how to access the funds.

However, Mr. CHANDA encouraged more farmer cooperatives in Monze district and other parts of the country to apply for the grants before the December 17, 2021, official deadline for the World Bank Funded Project.

Meanwhile, Monze District Farmers Association Chairperson SIMON MALAMBO praised government for imparting farmers with knowledge on how to access grants under the ZAPT.
