1500 People to get Hearing Aids

June 24, 2019June 24, 20192About 1500 people with hearing impairments are to be scanned and provided with hearing aids in Kitwe.Starkey Hearing Foundation a nongovernmental organisation from the United States of America – USA is offering screening and providing hearing aids to patients for free.Starkey Chief Executive Officer Bill Austin says some hearing impairments can be treated if identified at an early stage.Mr. Austin says his organisation is aiming at identifying and treating hearing impediments in children as they affect their cognitive development.Meanwhile, Kitwe District Commissioner Binwell Mpundu said the initiative by Starkey foundation is complementing government efforts of providing quality healthcare.Mr. Mpundu said Kitwe has no Audiology clinic and urged Kitwe residents to make use of the initiative and take their friends and relatives with hearing problems to be screened.
