ZUPD urges govt to expedite KCM talks

Moombe Hamobola-Zambians for Unity Peace and Development -ZUPD – has urged government to speed up negotiations with Vedanta on Konkola Copper Mines -KCM -to protect the interests of Zambians especially those on the Copperbelt.

ZUPD President RONNIE JERE has told journalists at a press briefing that many people on the Copperbelt have lost employment as a result of the takeover of KCM.

Mr. JERE said Vedanta had over thirteen thousand workers compared to now less than four thousand workers leaving many people on the Copperbelt unemployed.

He said politics were at play when the previous government suspended Vedanta Operations on Mining.

Mr. JERE has since commended President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for taking it upon himself to make sure issues at KCM are resolved expeditiously.
