ZUAPD CONDEMNS VIOLENCE

The Zambia Union of All Persons with Disabilities -ZUAPD- has condemned acts of political violence that have occurred as the country heads towards the General Election.

ZUAPD President, PASCAL MULENGA, says the recent violence that happened in Kanyama Constituency in Lusaka should be condemned by all peace-loving Zambians.

Addressing the media in Livingstone, Mr. MULENGA said if left to escalate, violence will adversely affect people with disabilities.

He has appealed to political parties, especially those in the opposition to ensure peace is maintained to protect the lives of people with disabilities.

Mr. MULENGA said the Patriotic Front -PF- have already demonstrated that they have the interests of people with disabilities based on the number of candidates the party has adopted to contest on various positions.

And EUNICE MUBITA, who is visually impaired, praised President EDGAR LUNGU for deploying the defense force to partner with the Zambia Police to maintain peace.

Ms. MUBITA said the move is a relief to people with disabilities as it guarantees peace before and after the elections.
