ZSL Week 10 recap: The numbers of this week

The MTN/FAZ week 10 marked the peak in terms of goals in the Super Division as it has recorded so many goals since the start of the league. This means many teams rose to the occasion this week and played to their full strength, it is not easy to score in football these days.

It is expected that at this particular time of the season teams should be hitting the ground running owing to many games played in the first half of the season.

Week 10 marked the start of the second quarter, a quarter in which men start to be separated from boys. Title contenders are being formed with weeping boys slowly but sure getting their places.

Going into the second quarter of the season, it is natural to feel a sense of excitement due to the impending flurry of the activity in the second period as teams start to kick their season and are potentially focused on not risking a great deal.

Teams start to be so craft in front of goal by showing great intent as they start to coordinate very well. No team will want to remain sluggish and lacking imagination as they know that once they slip off, they are left behind.

Goals win matches with defense winning trophies simply put if you score more than you concede you’re guaranteed victory and if the defense is tight enough a team is assured of picking up point/s in every match without even scoring which is a mark of a champion, scrapping points where it is difficult.

Week 10 has seen the most goals scored in the FAZ/MTN 2020/2021 season with a total of 29 goals from 9 matches.

Each match had an average of 3 goals with each team averaging 1.6 goals. 3 goals in a single match signal an entertaining game with the prediction of a winner after the final whistle a thing which fans and every stakeholder want to see.

A team averaging 1.6 goals in a single match means it is capable of scoring two goals a reflection of how determined a team is to win a match because goals are the ones that win matches.

With such a goal-scoring spree, fans and everyone involved in the game should anticipate crunchy matches with so many goals coupled with a winner.

Should this trend continue, teams in the super league should expect more fans flocking to their match venues because of the sparks they anticipate to happen. Fans don’t like dead rubber, matches.

Eight wins and 1 draw it’s a mark of a competitive league as it shows seriousness and top level of competition

Sixteen teams scoring and only 2 not finding the back of a net, a good prediction of how things will be going forward. An indicator that most fixtures will be ending in wins and more goals. Not so many boring games are expected.
