ZRA Raises K37m

The Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA- says it has managed to collect over 37 million Kwacha as revenue from January to July 2019.ZRA Commissioner General, Kingsley Chanda says this is as a result of 1,992 interceptions made by inspectorate and custom Enforcement equivalent to the tune of 715 million Kwacha.Mr. Chanda says ZRA through its inspectorate and Customs Enforcement unit conducted 337 visits to VAT registered taxpayers.He disclosed that out of all the visits 74  taxpayers were found to be non-compliance and were not issuing tax invoices as per requirement.Mr. Chanda was speaking during the launch of the integrity Month in Lusaka aimed at enhancing integrity awareness to all ZRA staff and stakeholders.And Mr. Chanda said lack of Integrity in tax administration can hinder the country’s economic growth.He disclosed that the authority has installed CCTV in the borders offices to enhance its security system.Meanwhile ZRA Staff Representative Nancy Chisanga said the members of Staff are committed to serve Zambians with integrity.
