ZNS receives kudos

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has commended the Zambia National Service -ZNS- for its contribution to agriculture and other sectors of national development.

President HICHILEMA says the service has exhibited impressive dedication towards the country’s development.

The Head of State says the service has also been instrumental in responding to pressing needs of the nation.

President HICHILEMA said this in a speech read for him by Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA during the 2023 ZNS Senior Officers’ Annual Ball in Lusaka.

The President also urged the Men and Women in uniform to use the annual ball as a platform to foster the spirit of unity and teamwork in the service.

President HICHILEMA further reiterated calls for the officers to sustain the non partisan nature of the Defence Force by refraining from engaging in politics.

And ZNS Commander MALITI SOLOCHI said the service is now focusing on production as directed by the Head of state.

Lieutenant General SOLOCHI said he is optimistic that the service will be able to hit 10 to 12 tonnes per hectare of production in 2024.

He further assured Government that the service is working to enhance mealie meal production capacity to further stabilise prices.
