ZNS mealie meal safe – CHINTALA

The Millers Association of Zambia-MAZ- is satisfied that the Eagles Mealie Meal produced by the Zambia National Service –ZNS- has no Genetically Modified Organisms -GMO.

MAZ President ANDREW CHINTALA says he is content with the measures that Government has put in place to prevent the offloading of GMO mealie meal on the market.

Mr. CHINTALA says millers in the country are actively engaged in the matter adding that the GMO mealie meal which is for export purposes is monitored by various institutions to ensure it does not get off-loaded onto the local market.

The MAZ President was speaking after a tour of the Kazungula one-stop border post in the Southern Province in the company of Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA, Information and Media Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA and Zambia National Service Commander Lieutenant General MALITI SOLOCHI.

And Mr. LUFUMA said government will prioritise the welfare of the Zambian people by ensuring that no GMO mealie is offloaded on the local market.

Meanwhile, Mr. MWEETWA wondered why people peddling misinformation on the staple food have not been visited by the law.
