ZNS gets new equipment

The Zambia National Service -ZNS- has bought 10 tipper trucks for use in the construction of 11 dams in the country.

This is at a cost of 16.2 million kwacha

Defence Minister, AMBROSE LUFUMA says the trucks will enhance ZNS’ response to solutions for the drought, which the country is experiencing.

Speaking when he commissioned the trucks, Mr. LUFUMA said government is in a hurry to reverse the effects of drought by providing people reliable access to water supply for irrigation purposes as well as animal keeping.

Meanwhile, ZNS Commander, Lieutenant-General MALITI SOLOCHI said the trucks will help enhance the capacity of officers in carrying out a wide range of earth works.

General SOLOCHI has further appealed to the private sector to consider engaging and partnering with ZNS in changing the infrastructural landscape of the country.

And ZNS Chief of Land and Development Branch, Brigadier-General JEPHAN MUKANDA disclosed that the tipper trucks have been bought using internally generated funds.
