Zimbabwean Wins Mika Tennis Championship

A 19 year old Zimbabwean has won the 2023 MIKA Tennis Championship.

SHANE TAPERA became one of the youngest competitors to win the Championship beating 34 year old KAREEM HINDOLO of Sierra Leone to the top Prize.

Speaking to ZNBC Sport News in an interview TAPERA said a lot of young players have what it takes to win at the global stage but lack of investment and exposure is what kills talent in Africa.

KAREEM HINDOLO who finished second hailed his competitor for putting up a good show.

And, 2023 Tournament Technical Director SYDNEY MATETA said after attracting 50 International players from the over 100 that took part, the aim will be to make the 2024 edition bigger by extending the invitations.

MATETA further said going forward the aim will be to extend the days of the championship to give players enough time to compete without acquiring injuries due to tight schedules .
