Zimbabwean physical trainer leaves Zanaco

Sensational Zanaco physical trainer Thomson Matenda has penned a farewell message following his departure from the club.

He has thanked everyone at the club for giving him an opportunity, working with him and supporting him during the three years he has stayed at Sunset Stadium.

Matenda joined the Bankers in July 2019.

“As I take up a new challenge, I would like to thank Zanaco FC Management for giving me an opportunity to work with the club.

To my fellow coaches, thank you for believing in me and thank you for the support I received from each member of the Technical Bench.

To the players, I would like to thank each and every player who gave me the privilege of coaching you during my time at the club, you worked hard and believed in the process.

And to the fans, your continued support was truly appreciated, you helped us grow and get better everyday.”

Matenda, 45, is a specialist in physical education and sports and has experience at school, club and national team levels.

Matenda is the former fitness trainer of Dynamos FC (Zimbabwe) and Costa Dol Sol Football Club (Mozambique). He worked with the Zimbabwe national football team in the same capacity for ten years from 2009 to 2019.

His other professional experience includes working as Sports Officer for the Zimbabwe Republic Police as well physical education teacher at Matinunura High School, Mkoba Teachers’ College and Danhiko High School, all in his native Zimbabwe.
