ZESCO Limited has cleared 59,818 new connections of the 67,000 backlog as of 2022.

Board Chairperson VICKSON NCUBE says the company now needs to clear the remaining 7,182 connections .

Mr NCUBE says the Corporation is working to ensure that everyone is connected as soon as possible.

He says the delay to end the backlog is caused by the use of the same material to Carter for both new and old customers.

He has also attributed the delay to the change of contacts by some customers hence making it hard to locate them.

Mr NCUBE has also warned members of the public who are connected to ZESCO illegally to desist from doing so as the law will catch up with them.

He has urged members of the public to take advantage of the ongoing amnesty to connect to electricity legally.

Mr. NCUBE said this in an interview with ZNBC News In Lusaka .
