Nkwazi 0-0 Kafue Celtic
Choma-based Green Eagles recorded their third win of the season as they handed the defending champions, ZESCO United their third defeat of the campaign.
It was a game of two halves at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium as the hosts dominated the first half but they were wasteful in front of goal.
In the second half, the visitors took over and scored two goals to secure a well-deserved 2-0 win. Warren Kunda opened the scores in the 58th minute with a powerful header before Derrick Bulaya could seal the result with a close-range finish in the 70th minute.
The win takes the Kawale Boys up to 6th place with 13 points while ZESCO remains in third place but risks moving out of the top four depending on results from tomorrow’s games.
At Edwin Imboela, Kafue Celtic and the Zambia police-sponsored outfit High Flying Nkwazi shared spoils following a goalless draw. The draw means Nkwazi reduce Buffaloes’ lead to just two points while Celtic drop to eighth place.
On Friday, Mathews Maleka’s 50th-minute strike earned Kansanshi Dynamos a well-deserved win against Konkola Blades.
The win saw the Mabanga Boys move up to 5th place on the log with 14 points.
