ZNBC News

ZESCO has proposed a 37-percent Electricity tariff increment to attract more investments in power generation and distribution.

ZESCO Head Business Development FITZPATRICK KAPEPE says the Utility has applied to the Energy Regulation Board -ERB- for an increment as the company pursues investments in alternative energy sources.

Mr. KAPEPE says there is need to urgently invest in alternative energy sources to lessen Zambia’s dependence on hydro power.

He said this in Kitwe during a ZESCO stakeholder engagement meeting on the proposed 37-percent increment held at the Garden Court Hotel in Kitwe.

And ZESCO Chief Engineer Systems Operations KENNEDY BUPE disclosed that the Utility is investing in other alternative energy sources like Solar to meet national demand for electricity.

And Kitwe District Commissioner LAWRENCE MWANZA called for more investments in the energy sector.
