ZCTU mourns RB

Zambia Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU- Secretary General COSMAS MUKUKA has described 4th President RUPIAH BANDA as an admirable diplomat and a unifier.

Mr. MUKUKA says during his presidency, Mr BANDA prevailed over several labour negotiation deadlocks.

He cites the 2009 negotiations as one of the moments where the Head of State physically intervened to award an attractive salary increment to the workers after a heavily protracted negotiation process between Labour Unions and Cabinet.

Mr. MUKUKA says through his humour, Mr BANDA pacified the tension that characterized the negotiations.

He says as an outstanding diplomat, President BANDA had a way of dealing with various challenges that the country was faced with.

Mr. MUKUKA told ZNBC news that President BANDA will be missed by many as evidenced by the outpouring eulogies in his honour and the numerous people attending his funeral from all spheres of society both locally and abroad.
