ZBF Seeks Funds for Maputo outing

Chansa Kunda-The Zambia Boxing Federation -ZBF-says it is desperately racing to raise over K90,000 needed for the boxers to successfully participate in the ZONE four championship slated for Maputo – Mozambique next week.

ZBF- President DAN CHITEULE says the 13 boxers that will represent the country at the Competition are yet to enter residential camp due to financial hurdles.

CHITEULE says the boxers that have been training from their various clubs will enter residential camp once sufficient funds have been raised to carter for their preparations.

He told ZNBC Sports News in an interview that with the competition commencing from the 20th to the 23rd of April 2022, the Zambian contingent has delayed starting preparations owing to the invitation that was handed in late.

CHITEULE said this has partially caused delays as the federation needed enough time to have the boxers prepare for the competition and engage various stakeholders.

He has however assured that various stakeholders have been written to and have promised to provide financial assistance.

And Zambia Boxing National Team Coach WISDOM MUDENDA has expressed concern with the delayed preparations.

MUDENDA says with the recent performance of the team during the international boxing tournament, more needs to be done to have the athletes ready.
