The Zambia National Students Union -ZANASU- Congress has suspended its Executive leaders for a period of two weeks for allegedly being involved in politics.

ZANASU Congress Chairperson CARTWRIGHT LIBANDA has cited the executive’s involved in partisan politics and many other issues as the reason for the suspension.
Mr. LIBANDA says the Union will continue to remain a non-partisan body and work with the government of the day in ensuring that the welfare of students is enhanced.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. LIBANDA said those suspended include Union President STEVEN KANYAKULA, Vice President LAWRENCE KASONDE, Secretary General MUTALE MUMBA and Deputy Secretary ISIAIAH MAMBWE.

And Mr. LIBANDA said during the period of suspension the union leaders will not represent the Union.

He further disclosed that an Ad hoc Committee has been instituted to deliberate on the offences and disciplinary action to be taken on the suspended union leaders.

Meanwhile, the Union has pledged to work diligently with the New government to implement good policies in the education sector especially in Higher Learning institutions.

But, when contacted Union President STEVEN KANYAKULA said none of the executive members has received the suspension letters.
