Zanaco eye title…As Kaindu heaps praise on Moses Phiri

Zambia Super League side, Sensational Zanaco are currently in Livingstone for their preseason as they intensify preparations for the 2022/2023 Super League season.

Head coach Kelvin Kaindu believes his team could be among the contenders for the title if they can start on a good note unlike their slow start last season.

The Bankers lost star forward Moses Phiri who has joined Tanzanian outfit, Simba SC and Kaindu admits that Phiri was an important player to the club.

Kaindu is however happy with the reinforcements the club has made which he feels will increase the club’s depth.

“This is our first training session here in Livingstone and the boys look ready for this pre-season.

” We have a few concerns with some players with minor knocks, Isaac (Shamujompa), Suleymanou (Moussa), Obino (Chisala), Tshite (Mweshi), and Salulani (Phiri) but so far so good all of them managed to do something in the session we did today,” he said.

“Moses going to Tanzania, he was quite instrumental in the games we played, we relied so much on him and, unfortunately, he has gone for greener pastures but as you have seen from the session we had today and a few guys that may join us later on you can see that we have tried to bring in one or two players who will probably add a bit of depth to our team.

” Last season was difficult especially since we participated both in the Local League and CAF. We started slowly in the local and showed improvement in the second round and slowly managed to push up and almost finished in the top four.”

“This season we want to start strong and probably be among the contenders,” he added.

The club had their first training session in Livingstone this morning at Zesco Vic Falls Grounds.
