Zambians urged to support diamond jubilee independence anniversary

Government has called on the public to support and actively participate in activities to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee Independence Anniversary.

Zambia will celebrate her diamond jubilee independence Anniversary on October 24th 2024, marking the commemoration of 60 years of the country’s independence.

The Celebrations will be held under the theme 60 years Strong, honouring our heritage, embracing our future.

This will represent another major milestone for the country after the Golden Jubilee Independence anniversary celebrated in 2014.

And, Secretary to the Cabinet, PATRICK KANGWA says the preparations for the diamond jubilee independence Anniversary have started.

Mr KANGWA says National Steering Committee and a Secretariat have been established to spearhead the preparations at District, Provincial, and Diaspora levels.

In a Statement to ZNBC News, Mr KANGWA has since called on all citizens, traditional leaders and the private sector, NGO’s and Faith Based Organisations , learning Institutions and International Community to support and actively participate in activities.

He said the activities to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary will include but NOT not be Limitted to Zambia@60 song competition, cleaning and tree planting exercises among other activities.

Mr KANGWA said Diamond Jubilee Anniversary will be celebrated through out the month of the October to accord every citizen an opportunity to participate in the various activities.
